MCEC  PRAYERS FOR SUNDAY, May 12, 2024

Pray for Herb Sawatzky (pastor, Bethany Mennonite Church) and family as they grieve the loss of Herb’s mother, Selma Sawatzky, who died on May 2, 2024.  Funeral arrangements are currently being arranged; details will be found at the website of Wiebe & Jeski Funeral Home in Abbotsford, BC.

Steven Giugovaz will be Licensed Toward Ordination at Vineland United Mennonite Church on May 12, 2024.  Pray for Steven and the congregation as they celebrate his calling to ministerial leadership.  To share your words of encouragement and support with Steven, you can reach him at vumcpastor@gmail.com.

Continue to pray for MyanmarUkraine, Russia, Israel, Palestine and throughout a world that cries for peace.  Pray for those who are displaced, those who search for family members, those who make decisions and those who attempt to provide aid. Lord, hear our prayers.

UPDATED — BUS TOUR — 100th ANNIVERSARY OF THE RUSSIAN MENNONITE REFUGEES ARRIVAL IN ONTARIO

The Mennonite Historical Society of Ontario is hosting a one day Bus Tour to the Niagara Peninsula on June 15, 2024 to commemorate this event.  The tour will visit sites of Russlaender settlement in several Niagara communities and will also include a history of Swiss and Amish Mennonites first coming to Ontario, and how these Mennonites assisted the settlement of the Russian Mennonites to Canada.  The tour will also include a catered lunch in Virgil at the Niagara United Mennonite Church followed by the MHSO annual meeting.  Join the tour in Kitchener or in Vineland.  For more details and to register, please go to our Russlaender Tour website (www. MHSO.org).

 

MENNONITE WORLD CONFERENCE

Hidden Acres is hosting our 57th Annual Chicken BBQ & 16th Annual Pie Auction Fundraiser on Tuesday, June 11 from 5 – 7 pm.  Come and enjoy our delicious chicken dinner that thousands of people have come to know and love.  Along with the chicken, your meal includes potato salad, coleslaw, veggies, pickles, a fresh roll, chips and an apple or fresh baked donut.
