MCEC PRAYERS FOR SUNDAY, June 2, 2024
A Scarborough teenager was fatally shot earlier this week. He was a regular participant in the programs at Warden Underground, an MCEC congregation. Please pray for his family, friends and the Warden Underground team that serve that neighbourhood- Jon Folkeringa, Seun Olowo-Ake, and Jordan Thoms. “Journeying with people through their grief and trauma from such a horrible act of violence is our goal at this time,” says Colin McCartney from Connect City Ministries. “We want to listen well and only act on the stirrings of the Holy Spirit as we take on a more responsive approach to service.”
Pray for Hawkesville Mennonite Church as they gather this Sunday, June 2, 2024, for their last service together as a community of believers. Hawkesville Mennonite Church will now officially close. Pray as they move into transition, find new communities of faith and follow God’s direction in their life. Thanks be to God for the ministry of this faithful community.

Pray with Witness workers Bock Ki Kim and Sook Kyoung Park as they reach out to the 2.2 million mostly young people who have left the church in South Korea in the last 10 years. They believe that now is the time for Anabaptist teaching to revitalize the church and give a gift to the larger church in South Korea.
Hold in Prayer and Celebrate IEmergence Saskatchewan, the 2024 MCC and MC Canada Jubilee Fund Recipient. IEmergence seeks to provide culturally safe spaces for Indigenous children, youth and their families to learn about their indigeneity.
Continue to pray for Myanmar, Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Palestine and throughout a world that cries for peace. Pray for those who are displaced, those who search for family members, those who make decisions and those who attempt to provide aid. Lord, hear our prayers.

Between the River and the Sea: A Lunch and Learn Conversation with Jeff Halper, June 25, 2024, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Community Room, 50 Kent Ave., Kitchener – Join the MCEC Palestine Israel Network Working Group for this lunchtime conversation, as they welcome Jeff Halper, an Israeli anthropologist working to address injustice against Palestinian people. UPDATED — BUS TOUR — 100th ANNIVERSARY OF THE RUSSIAN MENNONITE REFUGEES ARRIVAL IN ONTARIO
The Mennonite Historical Society of Ontario is hosting a one day Bus Tour to the Niagara Peninsula on June 15, 2024 to commemorate this event. The tour will visit sites of Russlaender settlement in several Niagara communities and will also include a history of Swiss and Amish Mennonites first coming to Ontario, and how these Mennonites assisted the settlement of the Russian Mennonites to Canada. The tour will also include a catered lunch in Virgil at the Niagara United Mennonite Church followed by the MHSO annual meeting. Join the tour in Kitchener or in Vineland.
